They Say, Well I say

I probably won't use much  of They Say I Say for my revisions of my essay because I am almost done revising it. Although there were some interesting parts in the book that I thought about using. For now I don't think I will use anything from parts 3 or 4.  That may change sometime between today and wednesday so I guess we will just have to sit back and wait and see won't we.

Writing & Research

After my presentation I feel like I am headed down the right path, because  I got the right feedback that I needed I feel.  I say this because before it seemed like in all of my main points Interest, Knowledge and Passion I brought up how he cares and is committed to his blog.  Some of my strengths were I feel like I am a great presenter and I already know what identity I have I just need to perfect my argument to support my thesis.

Blogging vs Essay

In the book on page 15 there is a section called Topic-driven Blogs there is a statement made that I disagree with.  The writer stated "While many of these blogs are run by individuals, topic-driven blogs are also run collaboratively by a group of contributors".  In the blog i'm following, Pac-10 Blog on espn.com, Ted miller is the blogger and he is an employee of ESPN (his job writing that blog).  Although he is an employee of ESPN and he has some guidelines for it, I believe and feel through reading his blog posts that he runs it himself and not collaboratively.  I also talk about that in my essay how he is unique to other bloggers on espn.com and they all talk about their own topics and interests based of their are of expertise. So in my mind with that statement from Blogging I don't think it applies to the blog i'm following but it may with other topic-driven blogs.

Changes in my essay

I plan to make a few changes in my essay.  I plan on trying to go more in depth in my reasoning on why I think my bloggers identity is what I believe it is.  I also might looking into making more references to back up my arguments as well as making sure I properly cited everything in my essay.

Researching

So far with my research I would say I have hit a few minor speed bumps.  I say this because I have switch blogs, I switch because in the Fantasy Football Times blog I was following it was to hard to distinguish their identity because they were writing more for a report style and not really giving their own info, as I saw when I read more and more of their posts.  The blog I switched to now the "ESPN: Pac-10 Blog" written by Ted Miller. I chose this blog because they way Ted writes is very interesting and he gives his own opinion on many topics, a lot more than other ESPN bloggers and granted he is getting paid.  I'm glad I realized I needed to switch soon in my research rather than being deeper in and frantically trying to find a new blog.

Blogging from a War Zone

Throughout reading this book I found many things interesting but none caught my like the part of the book, First-hand Reports: Blogging from a War Zone.  I say this because while reading this part of Jill Walker Rettberg's book Blogging Digital Media and Society Series I was very intrigued by just the title of this section.  As I read deeper and deeper in to the section I was intrigued by Lieutenant Smash's blog style because it was almost like a diary type but it was for the whole world to see in a sense.  An example of this is when Lt. Smash wrote " Still working about 13 to 14 hours everyday. Haven't  had a break since Christmas... Sadness at the injury or loss of fellow warriors".  You would think that if your in a war zone or talking about deaths of fellow warriors (soldiers) you wouldn't write it like a diary on your blog for everyone to read, but that is what makes blogging unique from many other types of literature and creative writing.

Blogging

When it comes to to blogging I am interested in pretty much anything sports, food, travel, etc.  Although I want to study a sports blog.  I say this because I am intrigued by what people would blog about sports since they can state their mind and what they feel, rather than giving information writing like a newspaper or magazine.  Im excited to follow some different blogs to see what a vast variety of point of views are out there.
